Sabbath Of The Lord

When my husband was young and lived on the farm years ago he had some interesting times.  He enjoyed  growing up in nature and the peaceful outdoors life.

During the time of harvest it was the normal thing for the farmers to help each other get the crops off the fields.  Some of the farmers would share the use of their tractors and trucks and other equipment.

The wives were in the kitchens getting the meals ready for the workers.  Even the children were put to work with what needed to be done.  The whole family had a great time in harvesting the fields and gardens.

When Richard’s family learned about the Seventh Day being the Sabbath, they no longer harvested their crops on Sabbath.  One man who asked Richard’s Dad to thresh his crop said, “ I will work on my Sunday if you will work on your Saturday” !   Richard’s Dad said, No, I will not work on the Sabbath and I will not work on your farm on your Sunday!"

A Friend told us the experience of a Seventh Day Adventist farmer in Saskatchewan who told his neighbor that he would be shut down for the Sabbath and told the crew to come back on Sunday.

But those men thought they did not want to stop working on the Sabbath  and came anyway to work while the farmer was at church.    They tried to start the tractor.  It would not run.  They worked on that tractor but it would not go no matter what they did it would not start.  It had been working on Friday the day before. When the men came back after Sabbath to continue working on Sunday, the tractor started right up !

We see that God honors those who honor Him and obey His word.  There is a blessing for those who keep the Sabbath holy.  God stopped His work for the seventh day of creation and set it aside as holy and sanctified it as a special day for man to rest.  I cannot make anything holy and neither can any man make anything holy or sanctified.  It is the living God who only can make a Sabbath day holy.  Praise the Lord for His day of rest.

"Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work; but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy man-servant, nor thy maid-servant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day; wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it."
